A break in our snowy weather pattern finally allowed us to traveled to Idaho for a much delayed Christmas celebration. The roads were in good shape and other drivers on the road were taking their time and being cautious also. The snow made the drive beautiful, especially around Coeur d' Alene Lake. Even when the skies are gray Beauty Bay is a beauty.Mom chose to use a smaller tree this year, but the lights and decor made it just as beautiful. First things first. I finally got to sample the traditional treats of 516 w. Cameron Christmas... fruit cake, spritz, popcorn balls, nuts and bolts, and 7-Layer cookies. Next,we had to open our gifts !Shelby is always excited to see SVG and Silver Valley Girl loved the pear mincemeat Shelby gave her ( Shelby commissioned me to do the canning).Annie couldn't contain herself at the thought of having Christmas all over again. It was fun to watch everyone be surprised at their gifts. We were also very excited about the books we opened from Raymond Pert.JEJ thanked SVG and was eager to begin studying his gift Where Jesus Walked, photographed by Ken Duncan. Mom wanted to make sure it was her turn before she began opening another gift. Mom outdid herself with a delicious dinner. The evening ended with relaxing conversation and plans by my nieces to perform a beauty makeover on Kiki Aru as the headed out the door for home. We were greeted with safe roads again today as we headed over Fourth of July Pass toward home. I caught a gorgeous shot of Blue Creek Bay as we crossed the bridge toward CdA. Returning home we found a plowed driveway, a frozen door, and five cats eager to see us again. Even though we didn't get five golden rings or seven swans a swimming, it does seem like we have celebrated the twelve days of Christmas this year.
Wow, by the above post you might be into some money LMFAO...... hahahahaha wtf..

Glad you got a weather break and had Christmas with family!! Looks like you (and the dogs) and a blast :)
ReplyDeleteThat's nice. It sounds like you had a lovely time. I'm glad you just postponed the celebration, rather than cancelling completely like we ended up having to do (though we had a very nice Christmas at home).
ReplyDeleteOf course, in my family most celebrations are spread out because we can't ever manage to get presents to each other on time.
It looks like you had a wonderful time! I'm glad the weather cooperated. Your mom looks so cute and the tree is beautiful. What is a seven layer cookie?
ReplyDeleteAlso, so happy SVG was able to make it down to my valley. We had a long visit. It was so good to catch up on everything. She wants to bring me to your place if I ever make it up North!
I have that book, Where Jesus Walked. It's wonderful! So are your pictures. It's been awhile since I've seen that kind of snow.
ReplyDeleteHi Marmite... could you contact the guy in the commment above. I think you live closer... then we'll split the money!!
ReplyDeleteShelby.. we did have a blast.
Sallyacious...it was a perfect way to end the winter break... wow...what a mess you have today in the Palouse!
Nita Jo...it was a good time. SVG had a great time and I would love to have you visit if you head north. Seven Layer cookies are graham cracker crust with condensed milk, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut, walnuts, and I don't know the last layer! I don't have the recipe, but you can google it. They are also called Magic Bars.
Rondi... I had never heard of the book. I am eager to grab it out of his hands soon and look at it!
