No Place Like Home for the Holidays

Today I am savoring the season by decking the halls, the fence, the porch, and anything else that isn't tacked down. I love to pull out the Christmas decorations and find old ones with memories, new ones I bough after Christmas last year, and ones that I didn't remember I had! The is no place like home for the holidays.

I love the lights on the fence

and a simple bowl of Christmas balls.

Savoring Lights of Home

I am continuing today on my theme from Shutter Sisters' One Word Project using the word for December : savor.

When I arrived home today I paused and savored the lights of home. Whether it is the porch lights to welcome me home, the soft lights inside the house for reading, or the flickering lights of the fire. I savor it all.

Savoring the Season

The One Word Project at  Shutter Sisters in December is savor.

sa·vor/ˈsāvər/

Verb:

Taste (good food or drink) and enjoy it completely.

Noun:

A characteristic taste, flavor, or smell, esp. a pleasant one.

This year I will savor each day of the holiday season. I want to capture images of the simple beauty of the season. I want to remember December and not look back in Janurary and ask myself where that month went. There are lots of "to do " lists, commitments, baking, and planning during December. I will attempt to savor many a taste, smell, and flavor. I started today as I unpacked decorations and felt overloaded.  I will take my time and remember why we celebrate Christmas. There is a reason for the season. No more feeling overwhelmed, overloaded, or ready for a meltdown. I want to just breathe and savor the season.

Not Yet, November

Autumn is my favorite season of the year and I really love November. I am not ready to say good-bye to autumn or

to fall colors,

to leaves changing,

to cooler weather,

to the first snow,

and so many reasons to be thankful.   \

Greenhouse Tour

The warmer temperatures and welcome sunshine created a lovely haven in the greenhouse this week-end. Whether deadheading, smelling the scented geraniums, rearranging pots or repotting, it was a place I could have stayed for hours. Take a tour with me.

I Am Thankful

I am thankful the family that could come to our house arrived safe.

I am thankful the weather cooperated so people could sleep nice and warm.

I am thankful the dogs enjoyed each others' company.

I am thankful for all those who couldn't join us and glad we could talk or text. I am also thankful for time to rest, relax, laugh, read, play games, visit, and watch movies.

I am also thankful I have one more day of time off!
