I am home again in bed with another bout of flu. Not two weeks ago I was sick, but it has come back to torment me. When I awoke this morning, not only was I sick, but was sick at heart about our first frost. It was a mild one that only did damage in small places throughout the gardens. Good-bye coleus, farewell zucchini, and it is time to wrap up the remaining tomatoes to ripen or prepare lots of fried green tomatoes.
My brother said recently when he has a sore throat Tabasco sauce is what he craves. When I have an achy flu I crave Campbell's Vegetable Beef soup, buttered saltines, and cold milk. I am guessing it is a comfort food from childhood. I just savored my last buttered saltine and spoonful of soup.I am off to bed again to try to restore my health. I also can never drink enough orange juice when sick. I will grab a glass of that before I shut out the world again under the covers. Sigh.
IEG: Put a shot of vodka in that orange juice. Now that is medicine.HA!
ReplyDeleteSorry you're not feeling well...When I have a sore throat I crave orange popsicles. And with the flu...it's canned peaches and toast. Remnants from childhood. Take care of yourself.

ReplyDeleteLinda... isn't it funny what we remember.
MT... thanks for the hugs and the gin tip. I would have to send that bloke of mine to the liquor store.
ah, I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. It sure can be sad as frost takes our abundance of food away. Wishing you vitality.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you are so sick! My daughter and son both have had the swine flue. It zaps the energy so bad. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you have the flu. I hope you'll get better soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and to answer your question, no, that's not my house. I live around the corner on a hill lot which I like because it's bigger and I have huge oak trees in the front (shade garden) and then more of a sun garden in the back with a greenhouse and raised beds. I have a lot of wild areas and the only grass I encourage are tall ornamental grasses.
I also have a lot of overgrown bushes and flowers that have gone to seed. I defend my wild garden on how good it is for the wildlife although I'm sure my neater neighbors wouldn't agree, ha.
Take care of yourself!
