The topic for Sunday Scribblings this week is New.
Today we awoke to even more snow. About noon we decided to take a walk through the deep drifts with the dogs. We attempted to drive up to Canyon Creek Campground off Highway 20. The road was plowed but the campground road wasn't. We let the dogs break a new path in the snow so we could move up the road to take some photos. Even though about a foot and a half of snow was on our path I think our dogs knew we were at Canyon Creek. They explored around the snow and bushes for familiar smells. As the snow was falling harder Annie headed up the path further letting her ears fly in the wind. Heading back to our rig on the new path we were able to pause and catch some photos of the campground.
This tree stood tall and stately in front of a small grove of other trees at the entrance of the campground. I will have to catch the same photo in the spring to see the changes with is particular tree. It was a fun hike, especially since our snow dogs made it a bit easier by breaking a new path.
For other Sunday Scribblings on New or New Year go here.
This is beautiful. They make a new path.
ReplyDeleteIs that an Aussie Cattle Dog in that snow? How sensational ...the photo's too. Happy 2008 to you All!
ReplyDeleteThanks susiej. I loved the snow also.
ReplyDeleteYes redness our Shelby is an Aussie Cattle Dog... certainly likes the warm better than the cold!

Marmite: I am glad we caught the photos yesterday. The weather warmed and the snow is gone from the trees. sigh.
ReplyDeleteSnow is a great metaphor for New - those first steps, those first trails. It's great!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Making a new path is surely indicative of a new year beginning...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snow pictures! It looks like a complete winter wonderland! And your dogs are beautiful too! It looks like they did a good job of creating a path for you. Did you make it through this last storm alright? We had had much wind, but were saved from most of the damage. Fifty miles away was complete chaos with hurricane level winds.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are well and that this quarter is starting off well for you.

I love thhis post and phots.
ReplyDeleteI adore this time of year. The more snow the better, especially when it's newly fallen and covers up all the layers of brown slushy muck on the road. Looks like your rig lets you reach some really pristine places--how delightful!
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos of a true winter wonderland! They look like greeting card photo.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
What an awesome tree! I love all the pictures of the snow. We hit 70 degrees today so it doesn't even feel like winter.
ReplyDeleteThese are spectacular photos! And I love the way my dogs (even as little as they are) will just take off into the new fallen snow, never thinking about how deep it might be, just overjoyed to forge their way through it.
ReplyDeleteLovely post!
Love those 'scout' dogs of yours! And love the snow. Your writing always takes me home and makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the world from your eyes.
Looks like a great day in the snow to me!
